How we have helped our Rental Stairlift customers

We are very happy to have helped so many customers to regain the full use of their homes and retain their independence over the years. Our customers have presented us with many and varied challenges, but we are pleased to say most have been overcome without too much difficulty!

Recently we helped Mr Goring from Manchester to regain the full use of his house by installing a stairlift on his curved and narrow staircase. He was reassured by our engineer that we would be able to install the stairlift safely and was very relieved as he thought it would not be possible.

Mrs S from Addingham

Mrs S of Addingham needed a stairlift installed in her property, which was not problem for Sabre Stairlifts. Her other problem was she could not get her wheelchair into the property as both doors had 3 steps going up to the living floor area and, as she could not lift her legs. John Sugden, who is in charge of the surveying team and has 27 years of experience in the stairlift industry, decided the best option would be to create a bespoke ramp to provide smooth, easy access for Mrs S's wheelchair.

John surveyed both doors to see which was best, and he decided that the garage door would be the best option for constructing the ramp as there was more room. John organised the builder and coordinated the build to tie in with the stairlift installation in the property.

Mr Brierley from Bradford

Mr Brierley from Bradford had been suffering from reduced hand dexterity for some time and when he came out of hospital after a back operation he found that he couldn’t operate his existing stairlift properly. “I didn’t feel safe using it,” said Mr Brierley.

He contacted us and we went to see him with his occupational therapist present to see if we could offer a better solution. We discussed Mr Brierley’s needs and decided that a powered swivel seat would be a good solution.

“I didn’t know you could get a stairlift that was so easy to use,” said Mr Brierley.

Mr Barlow from Bury

Mr Barlow began to develop arthritis in his knees and contacted us to ask if his stairlift could be adapted so that he could stand rather than sit, which caused him further pain in his knees. We installed a Brooks Lincoln sit-stand stairlift, which was ideal for Mr Barlow as the sit / stand frame allows the user of the stairlift to stand on the footrest, whilst holding onto a special folding security bar for stability.

Mr Barlow found that having a stairlift fitted in his home in Bury made his life so much easier. His wife had just had an operation and he thought he could manage to look after her by himself. But he soon realised that he needed help.

"I didn't want to move the bedroom downstairs, and we didn't really have the room anyway," he said. "I tried to support my wife's weight up the stairs but I wasn't as strong as I thought! The stairlift really was a god-send. And when my wife's recovered, the engineers will come and remove it at no extra cost!"

Mr Lewis in Brighton

Mr Lewis, who lives in Brighton, needed a stairlift installing after he fell and injured his leg. As he hoped that his leg would recover and he would then be able to manage the stairs, he felt renting a stairlift would be the ideal solution.

Mr Lewis had a curved staircase, so we installed the Brooks Curved stairlift which is fully lockable and so gave Mr Lewis peace of mind for when his grandchildren came to visit.

Mr Finch in Worthing

We installed the slimline Acorn - Brooks Lincoln stairlift for Mrs Finch, who lives in Worthing.

She has a very narrow staircase and so was pleased to find that we could install a slimline stairlift which would allow her to get up the stairs, and would also fold against the wall and leave enough room for her family to use the stairs.

Mrs Finch was also very pleased that no structural work was needed as the lift is secured to the stairs and not the wall.

"I didn't want any structural changes to the house and was pleased that the installation didn't change anything. The stairlift fits well and folds away very neatly", says Mrs Finch.

It is a common misconception that stairlifts are fixed to the wall. The lift track is actually installed onto the staircase itself.
