Stairlift prices can depend on a number of factors:

• If you would you like your stairlift to be customised
• Any extra features that may be needed

You can discuss any optional extras during your appointment with our surveyor who can discuss your exact needs. They will then advise you about any additional features you may benefit from.

Extra features that might be worth paying more for include:

• A powered swivel seat – this can be a good idea for someone with limited mobility, helping them to get on and off safely.
• A power-hinged track – you can then fold away the track when the stairlift is not in use. This is particularly useful if the track runs in front of a doorway or could cause trips or falls.
• A perch seat – this allows you to use the stairlift without sitting down or bending your knees, if you have difficulty doing this then this option is ideal. It also usually makes a stairlift slimmer so that it can be installed in a narrow staircase with not enough space for a standard model.

Are stairlifts tax exempt?

Most stairlift customers are eligible for a VAT exemption. There are two types of VAT exemption which will give a discount to eligible customers: If the person applying suffers chronic illness or is disabled, then they should receive a total exemption from VAT which will cover them for domestic and personal use.

If the person applying is over 60, but is NOT eligible for 0% VAT, they can get a reduced rate of 5% VAT, for the supply and installation of a stairlift.
